BUILD! The Amazing World of LEGO

June 8 – now extended to September 22, 2013

The colorful toy bricks are everywhere – they have broken out of the toy chest to make their mark in everything from pop culture to fine art. Visitors to this exhibition will see remarkable creations from LEGO bricks, and be able to dig in and create their own masterpiece.

Works by more than 20 LEGO artists from across the United States are shown in this exhibition.

Exhibit admission: $5 adults, $3 students/seniors (62+), free for members and children 5 and under.

Bricks to Rails: LEGO Train Festival
August 3, 9 am – 5 pm and August 4, 1 pm – 5 pm
Admission $5 adults, $3 students/seniors (62+), free for ages five and under
Witness a special installation of custom train designs in motion by the Colorado-Wyoming LEGO User’s Group.

Kids’ Workshops

Mech Madness, SNOT and other LEGO techniques you should know! – with Imagine Rigney
Ages 8 – 11
June 29, 1 pm – 3 pm
Create your own upright mech using elements from a LEGO set you take home! Participants create unique designs using techniques they will learn in the workshop.

Simple Machines: LEGO Technic – with Ian Davis
Ages 8-11
July 20, 1 pm – 3 pm
Learn to make creations move! Use LEGO Technic elements to build wind-up motors and other mechanisms, then incorporate them into a vehicle you get to take home.

LEGO in Motion: Animation Festival

LEGO bricks come to life as the favorite medium of stop-motion animation filmmakers. Join us for an evening of grown-up entertainment with LEGOs and beer!

Jedi Engineering with LEGOs
Ages 5-7 years
June 17-21, 9 am – noon
Young Jedi will defeat the Empire by designing and refining X-wings and R2-units, and creating motorized and architectural model energy catapults, shield generators, and defense turrets.

Master Jedi Engineering with LEGOs
Ages 8-11 years
June 17-21, 1 pm – 4 pm
The force is strong in this class. Projects include AT-AT walkers, Pod Racers, Star Destroyers, and Cloud Cities. Learn key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, and eccentric motion.

Bashem Bots with LEGOs
Ages 8-11 years
July 8-12, 1 pm – 4 pm
In this advanced engineering camp, re-engineer standard vehicles into mechanized machines that can traverse challenging obstacles and battle against fellow bots.

Pre-Engineering with LEGOs
Ages 5-7 years
July 8-12, 9 am – noon, or Aug 5-9, 9 am – noon
Let you imagination run wild with over 100,000 pieces of LEGO! Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, and motorized cars, and create your own design.

Green Engineering with LEGOs
Ages 8-11 years
Aug 5-9, 1 pm – 4 pm
Race solar cars, build a wind-powered electrical generation facility, enter the human powered vehicle competition, and more! Familiarity with LEGO Technic is desirable.
